I think I'm a rock whisperer

This is the process right here—this picture. Finding—Looking—Listening.

In this picture I'm in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We'd go for hikes in the mountains and I'd find the most incredibly familiar shapes. We'd be in amazing places and my neck would be so sore from looking down all the time! I'd be like, OMG! look at that cow, that perfect heart, that bird, this bear —put this in my bag, please.

Sometimes Mike would say, it's too big to carry around, or the bag is full, it won't fit!

And I'd say, give me the water bottle, I'll just carry it. Get it in there!

As I pick it up, admire it, and bask in my good fortune for such a find, its story runs through my head. I know what the scene is and what supporting pieces I need, if any. And the story just...plays.

Some rocks tell their own story. They're stand alone pieces, highly unique and have the ability to speak directly to your heart. People connect with them because the story reflects their own.

When I do a custom piece, I generally don't know what I'm looking for when I start. I go out to see what comes to me. I may not find it the first time, but it doesn't take many outings to be inspired.

So yeah, a rock whisperer. They talk to me, I talk to them.
