Seahorse

CA$180.00

Never did I think that one could see a seahorse in Nova Scotia, but around here, Lined seahorses tuck into eelgrass beds and move only when the ocean says it’s time.

The seahorse knows how to hold its ground even when the current shifts. They’re steady little navigators — graceful, loyal, and oddly practical.

In folklore, seahorses are said to protect sailors and bring luck to travellers. Maybe that’s why they feel like good company — a reminder that gentleness and strength aren’t opposites at all.

They speak to that deep part of us that craves peace, presence, and wonder.

This seahorse, however, was found on my own property, three kilometres inland as the crow flies, in the beautiful and peaceful Lake Doucette.

It began as a humble stick from my forest, soaking up years of birdsong and breeze before becoming a seahorse. A whisper that tides aren’t just water; they’re the pull of the world inviting us to pay attention.
